Waylon Flies Again^{(Days of Ruin)} or Counter-Attack^{(Dark Conflict)} is the 20th mission in the Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. After completing the mission, Waylon is unlocked as a playable commander in Free Battle and multiplayer modes.

Story[]

It turned out that the "Worm" was nothing more than just that, a simple worm. But hope returns when Dr. Morris informs the group that he has developed a kind of vaccine to slow the virus. They're running low on materials to make it though, as a result of Greyfield's plundering of any facilities he's come across. Following Brenner's words, Will resolves to end the senseless war Greyfield has brewed. At that moment, Lazurian forces spot an NRA air force led by Waylon.

Strategy[]

This fight can prove rather difficult as Waylon's main power lies in his air force and will most likely board a Duster or a Fighter; Controlling the central sector is key to swinging the battle in your favour as well as maintaining Tasha's limited ground force. Her AI will likely follow you so preserving much of her forces, especially her Missile, will ensure keeping his aircraft at bay. She also has another but it is stationed at her HQ at all times.

Pull back your single Anti-Air, Bike and infantry back to capture the neutral Cities, Airfields and Factories on your side of the map before pushing back with more AA to punish his mostly airborne force; The Bomber and B-Copters shouldn't be too much of a worry if you can pull them into range of Tasha's missile. You don't have to fret if you let a lone B-Copter or Bomber into your territory as they'll be target-practice for the lone Missile back at the HQ, so focus mostly on taking on the central portion of the map.

Build Anti-Tanks and B-Copters to combat the inevitable introduction of Waylon's War Tanks and Md. Tanks as well as Bombers to assist and fend off his Anti-Tanks, that might prove a problem otherwise. Once you've driven the enemy away from the region, harden it with Rockets and Missiles, capturing any cities with Bikes and T-Copter-borne Infantry and Mechs, lost to the enemy, before sending your combined forces into his base.

As long as you keep the central region under your control, this mission should be relatively straightforward.
