Waylon Flies Again(Days of Ruin) or Counter-Attack(Dark Conflict) is the 20th mission in the Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. After completing the mission, Waylon is unlocked as a playable commander in Free Battle and multiplayer modes.
It turned out that the "Worm" was nothing more than just that, a simple worm. But hope returns when Dr. Morris informs the group that he has developed a kind of vaccine to slow the virus. They're running low on materials to make it though, as a result of Greyfield's plundering of any facilities he's come across. Following Brenner's words, Will resolves to end the senseless war Greyfield has brewed. At that moment, Lazurian forces spot an NRA air force led by Waylon.
This fight can prove rather difficult as Waylon excels in aerial fighting and will most likely board a fighter. The key to victory is to maintain the center area, which in itself is also difficult. Capture all the neutral buildings as fast as you can, and try to leave the ground fighting to your allies, while letting their anti-air units defend your own army. Try to find a balance between air and ground units, but you'll want to control the air as much as you can. One way of doing this is to load Will onto an anti-air, taking out air units to build Will's CO zone, using tanks and anti-tanks to defend the center area while building fighters and bombers. Building air units is expensive, so taking out any of Waylon's while keeping your own is tremendously helpful. Utilize rigs to supply and build temporary airports. Keep in mind that building anti-air units will deter many of Waylon's air units, more so if Waylon is onboard one.
- Waylon Flies Again is the only level where an ally has a HQ.
