"It's time for Waylon to do some whalin'!"”
—Advance Wars: Days of Ruin CO Description
Waylon (Finn in the European version) is a CO of the New Rubinelle Army. He first appears in level six of Advance Wars: Days of Ruin. He acts as an ally until the freeing of the Lazurian prisoners. He specializes in aerial units. After his defeat, he is never seen again (in the final battle against Waylon, he announced his intention to retire when it was over and it's assumed that he did).
Waylon is generally known as a coward, only doing what he wants. He does not care for the lives of his men, which greatly annoys Captain Brenner. He also dislikes the Lazurian Army, hunting them and the 12th Battalion down with Admiral Greyfield.
Personality[]
Waylon is self-absorbed and boastful, doing whatever he wants when he wants to. All he cares about is his own pleasure and doesn't care about his injured troops, instead leaving them behind to die. This annoys Captain Brenner greatly. Waylon is constantly annoyed with Will for his "charity work", and boasts to him about him killing Brenner (Even though it was Greyfield who killed him).
CO Abilities[]
CO Zone[]
+20% ATK and +30% DEF to CO unit and any air units within 2 spaces of it.
CO Power[]
Wingman(Days of Ruin) - Bad Company(Dark Conflict)
- Air unit defense increases by 270%.
Strategy[]
Attach Waylon to any airborne unit and go on the attack. Be cautious that if boarding a CO to a B-Copter, that B-Copter will still take a lot of damage from units that deal with Air, such as Anti-Air. Waylon's performance in the air makes him a menace to combat his enemies' airpower, even when using a Duster. He has no problem taking on Fighters while his Bombers and B-Copters can prove to be a troublesome foe for Tanks and Indirects.
However, care must be taken around Anti-Air, Missiles, and Cruisers. This is likely going to be units your opponent is going to use against you. Never deny the production of Bombers while letting your Fighters and Dusters peck the other air units in your CO Zone area. They can OHK them in short order, while keeping your units less prone to OHKs. If they get the first attack, his air power will crumble very quickly. Also be aware to pay attention to your funds because air units are not cheap.
With the amount of expensive air units you'll be producing, Waylon's CO Power is very good when used right. Due to how defense works in this game, Waylon having 270 defense does not mean he is invincible, unlike in previous entries where having over 200 defense at full health is invincible. Nevertheless, Waylon's B-Copters at full health can survive an Anti-Air with Anti-Air only dealing around 3 damage. Take full advantage of the CO Power whenever you are ready to use it. It should be used to shield the opposition, especially when planning for a building capture.
