Greyfield is most commonly regarded as a defensive CO whom can have a very capable late game advantage (not to mention an early game advantage aswell depending on the money gain and the money you start out with). Greyfields greatest strength is his navy. However sea units, much like air units tend to generally cost more than land units. Meaning that money plays a big part in your gameplay. Your goal in the early stages of the game is to capture as many cities as possible. You should avoid rushing head first into buying naval units as that can quickly depleat your money supply. Instead, Focus on a defensive status. Build cheap and simple units in multitudes in order to wrest control of cities away from enemies while safeguarding them. Earlier on, you don't want to invest too much money into buying heavy units such as Bombers, War Tanks and Battleships. Start out simple and stick with ordianry tanks, anti-air vehicles (not missles) and anti-tank units. Keep in mind you should have Rigs and Bike Infantry with you. This ensures that you will be able to stick around for a long time without having to resupply as often (costing you less money). Though after a while, you should begin reinforcing your makeshift unit outposts with more tanks and even a few rockets here and there to ward the enemies of. You want to station your men near cities. Most maps have cities clustered together (at least, I would like to think) so you want to have the place on lockdown, thus denying the enemy money gain per turn while increasing yours.

In case this is a bit too much to take in, let me wrap up all that cumbersome information I just threw at you. I'll start by simplifying what i'm saying. I am practically teaching you how to lock your enemy into a stalemate. Here's the logic: Who will eventually win? The smart CO with more money? (you). Or the smart CO with less money? (enemy). The answer is you. Given that you know how to play the game and adjust to the situation, you should win! After all, you have more money! That stuff will let you buy what you really need. Which is coming up right now

CO Power
But first, how about a tip? A good army is balanced and efficient while being light and easily capable of defending and attacking at a moments notice! Here is a good army to help start you off! Two Bike Infantry, Two Rigs with two Mechs, three Tanks, two AA Vehicles, two Anti-Tank units and lastly a Rocket. In retrospect, this is alot. Though keep in mind this is the end value of what your army should at least be! Don't go in order like this, try to balance it out. Instead of building three tanks then three Anti Air Vehicles then three blah blah blah, build them one at a time. Build a tank, then an Anti Air Vehicle, then an Anti-Tank Vehicle. Those are the three you should have by the first three turns at least. Then reinforce the area by completing the list with the Rocket being the crowning jewel.

*Refills fuel, ammo, and materials for all units.
This is the part when things get interesting! You are now swimming in money, you and your enemy are now neck to neck in combat. Your have heavily fortified your side, and the enemy has heavily fortified theirs, though neither side is attacking. This is the ideal situation for Greyfield. You want to be locked in a stalemate with the enemy. The early game dominance you had with your Tanks, Anti-Airs and Anti-Tanks followed by other means of defense protected your cities and made enemy advancement virtually impossible! Good work! You sucessfully reinforced and strengthened your defences by adding more units and replacing the early game units like Tanks with late game units such as M Tanks and W Tanks! Not to mention building on your impervious armies numbers. You end up reaching the point where you don't have to fear the enemy attacking you. This is because your land units are so well balanced that the enemy cannot hope to defeat you! Remember all those cities you took? Your units are right on top of them! If your enemies can't best you, how ever will they take over your cities? They won't! Now for the real part of the strategy!

Let's Recap!
It's showtime! Your cities are defended. Keep them that way! Resupply them with more stronger units or simply just replace them! It is crutial that you win the land war. For simple purposes, I will call it the "First Front". Just remember to resupply them, don't have any weaknesses or breaches in your defences! Now then, let's talk about your Navy.

Strategy - pt.3
Let's take a break from the First Front! Let's talk about what I call the "Second Front" the Second Front focuses mainly on the Navy you have. I can't possibly make it any simpler than it already is! You need to build Submarines and Cruisers! You should have at least three or four of each of the units. They help fend off the enemies navy, not to mention that they protect you real damage dealers, your Carriers and Battleships! After you are certain that your navy can protect themselves, begin working on your offense! Build a handful of Battleships. Normally three. One to help on the First Front defend in case of weaknesses in defenses (Don't forget to accompany it with a Cruiser! Keep it safe!)  and the other two for protecting your Carriers and fending of enemy navy ships!

Greyfield's COP is the only means of restoring material to Rigs and Carriers in the game.

In order to unlock Greyfield as a playable commander, the player must complete Mission 21: "Lin's Gambit".
Well now, you have hopefully been reinforcing your First Front and you have finally completed your ideal Navy! We can officially begin plotting the enemies downfall! Let's begin reinforcing all fronts with Air units! The goal here is to crush the enemies navy while yours prospers. You may wish to add a few Fighters to your Second Front so that just in case your enemy begins to hunt down your Seaplanes, you can protect them!

  +
Levels
Enough about the Second Front! Let's come back to the First Front. The First Front is obviously stronger than your enemies. Assuming that you have sufficiently more cities and more units, you can now press the attack! Don't be too hasty, You may want to couple your First front with Bombers and Fighters! Your so rich because of all the cities that you can afford to was all that money! Remember now, it's all up to your First Front to begin! They must awaken from their vast slumber and begin to go on the offensive! Charge your Tanks and your Rockets into the breach!

During this time, your enemy will have lost over and over again to you, wether it be flimsy battles lost in the Second Front in attempt to put an end to your neverending hostile Navy, or countless Tanks destroyed when attempting to break your nearly impervious defenses in the First Front! This is your time! I can't teach you how to do this part, every commander has their own way of fighting, i'm not talking about the commanders in the game, i'm talking about you! Hopefully you have spent your money wisely and completed your armies! It's up to you to finish the job! Join the forces together and take what is yours!

Tip 2) Both your Fronts should be Defensive for a majority of the game. The reason for this is so that you can waste the enemies money away. If your defenses are strong enough and you have taken a majority of the cities, you will eventually be stronger than the enemy! ( This can be a long process depending on the opponent and the CO)

Advance Wars: Days of Ruin CO Description

Admiral Greyfield (Sigismundo in the European version of the game) is a CO and leader of the New Rubinelle Army.

Greyfield is first mentioned by Waylon after clearing level seven. He then appears as an ally during the campaign against Lazuria.

After the war with Lazuria is over, he orders Waylon to kill Forsythe, much to Brenner's dismay. Brenner, defiant, orders the troops to leave the area because it was revealed that Greyfield has gone mad, was the true instigator, and was shown to have a superiority complex. Greyfield fires weapons against the hiding spot after he frees the Lazurian prisoners.

With the knowledge of the Creeper being out in the public, some of Greyfield's troops abandoned Greyfield. Support from Greyfield started diminishing as he has lost control of his troops. He is then shown to have little consideration for his troops as anyone who disobeys are considered weak and traitorous.

After a campaign against him, he has failed to launch the Caulder Missiles on time. He is shot by Lin, ending his hunger for power. Greyfield (when alive) referred to himself as King Greyfield the Mighty.
