Main article: Cruiser

Cruisers(Days of Ruin/Dark Conflict) or 護衛艦(失われた光) are versatile Naval Units. They can carry up to 2 helicopter units (B Copters and T Copters). They are very powerful against Submarines and Air Units, and offer backup firepower against other ships.

Cruisers are initially introduced in A Storm Brews, become properly usable for the player in History of Hate, and become buildable in Greyfield Strikes.

Changes from Dual Strike[]

  • Cost (18000G -> 16000G)
  • Vision (3 -> 5)
  • Boosted damage vs. subs and air units
  • Reduced damage from air units

Strategy[]

In Days of Ruin, cruisers are the bedrock of most navies, because they can attack everything that can traverse the sea, countering submarines, Bombers, and Seaplanes especially well, often with OHKs. Otherwise these units devastate your navy with little chance to retaliate. In Fog of War, cruisers' great Movement and Vision makes them excellent spotters. All these attributes make cruisers ideal escorts for your other ships, lending them continuous use. Keep your navy stocked with them to make your whole naval experience sail smoothly.

Cruisers perform poorly against surface-faring ships like Battleships and Gunboats, and cannot attack Land Units like Rockets, but are resilient to OHKs. The all-powerful bombers deal only moderate damage to them. With relatively low cost and few weaknesses, cruisers are great units to board defensive COs onto.

When you know there is a submerged submarine nearby, move your air units and other ships first in case they manage to find it. Gunboats are best for this since they move the furthest and cost the least. Loading copters onto cruisers protects the copters from being shot down, while simultaneously deterring air units that would prey on them. The loaded copters are also refueled, keeping them going far away from allied Airports and Carriers.

Competitive Play[]

A Cruiser in Advance Wars : Days Of Ruin

As naval units, Cruisers can traverse sea tiles, making them very effective at chasing and taking down fleeing aircraft. Also thanks for their ability to load and resupply helicopters, Cruisers can be a viable unit in most games, even on maps where naval warfare isn't promoted. A decently priced unit with many purposes, Cruiser in numbers can protect your helicopters in disadvantageous situations and can eliminate more expensive air units and submarines, given that they attack first.
