Advance Wars: Days of Ruin CO Description

Captain Brenner (Japanese: ブラウン Brown, O'Brian in the European version of the game) is a CO and the original leader of the 12th Battalion, aka "Brenner's Wolves."

A charismatic, brave and hopeful leader, Brenner's selflessness sees him finding and taking in those who were out fighting the elements, including Will and Isabella, after being attacked by bandits. Though his kind-hearted approach to helping others leaves others concerned that he is a little too soft but is often given wisdom from his experience in Rubinelle service.

Role in Plot[]

Brenner was formerly a Rubinelle CO until the meteors struck. Forced to survive on their own, Brenner takes it upon himself to break off from the shattered command as an independent legion.

His goals was to reunite the shattered fragments of humanity and relocate them to settlements or places deemed suitable to maintain life. Lin serves as his second-in-command and is often given tactical advice whenever the Legion encounters hostile forces, initally, the Beast.

At some point, Brenner encounters Will, at the ruins of the Rubinelle Academy and goes out to take him somewhere to continue his life. Will, however grew more hesitant with venturing out on his own and insists on staying with the Legion, seeing Brenner as a father figure, especially when they arrived at a newly established settlement and protests from the Mayor.

BrennerHiding

Some time after eventually bringing down the Beast, Brenner rescues Davis and liaises with the New Rubinelle Army led by Greyfield. Brenner leads the 12th Battalion against Lazuria, defeating Forsythe in fair combat, but after he does and he talks out the terms of Forsythe's surrender, he witnesses Greyfield subject Forsythe to a ruthless summary execution, to Brenner's disgust. Brenner responds by bailing the remaining Lazurian COs, Tasha and Gage, from imprisonment, while staying behind to buy them as well as the rest of the 12th Battalion time to escape. Eventually, Greyfield authorizes a nuke attack handled by Tabitha under Caulder's own orders upon Brenner's location, in disregard to Greyfield's own men being in the area trying to catch Brenner. Brenner, already lying down wounded in his strenuous efforts, can only commentate how the attack about to vaporize the area he's in "looks like the sun."

Hope Never Dies

CO Zone[]

+20% DEF to CO unit and any units within 3 spaces of it.

CO Power[]

Reinforce(Days of Ruin) - Lifeline(Dark Conflict)

  • Restores 3 HP to all units.

Strategy[]

The extra 20 defense for all units (110/130 minimum) and a larger-than-average CO Zone at 3 is not something to underestimate. Having a wide range to minimize 1HK means that opponent's units are left wide open for counter attacks. Yes, even a CO unit that has massive stats like Tabitha will have a hard time doing 1HKs while leaving her exposed. Additionally, having that large of a CO Zone universally means you have quicker chances of activating COP as units can engage with less fear.

You'll want to max out Brenner's zone and invoke his COP as soon as you can. Your tanks and artillery low on HP will suddenly become a threat. Battle Copters aren't too shabby either as they can survive a hit from an anti-air with 110 attack or less. Fitting with Brenner's character, you'll be rewarded for keeping your crippled units alive. The more units you have the more you'll gain from his COP. With Brenner's COP, expensive units that took damage recovering with his COP means you save a lot of costs from repairs, as well as saving days from retreating to buildings just to repair HP.
