A New Threat is the eighth mission in Advanced Wars: Days of Ruin and introduces transport units.

Though the 12th Battalion saved Waylon, he chooses to leave and abandon his injured men. They willingly join the Wolves since Waylon hadn't been a very caring commander. In the meantime, they find a path through the Seratta mountain range which happens to lead back through Freehaven. At that moment, the mayor of Freehaven has come to plead for the Battalion's assistance, which Brenner immediately agrees to despite Lin's objections.

The Beast, recovering from his defeat from the last battle, is running low on supplies. His howls of pain are interrupted by the sudden appearance of Dr. Caulder, whose knowledge on the Beast's personal information catches him offguard, but Caulder insists he only needs to know one thing: he has weapons and supplies, and he will provide The Beast with them. Utilizing his new weapons supplier, the Beast launches an attack on the 12th Battalion.

You are now given the use of Transport Copters, highly mobile air units that can lead to an overwhelming and/or quick victory if used correctly. However, the Fog of War can impede their use. Your main goal should be to secure the top half of the map as you shouldn't rush the bottom just yet. Follow Lin's advice and load your foot units into the Transport Copters and move quick to secure the factories and other buildings. Drop them on top of buildings so the enemy can't see them. Make short work of the enemy infantry the next turn and move to capture the neutral buildings. It would also be in your best interest to capture the two other cities farther to the right before the enemy. Once the top has been secured, create Rockets and Tanks in the bottom half and slowly move up towards the artillery and hidden rockets and missiles. The Beast has been given one factory so expect a fairly light resistance, but overall, this fight shouldn't be too difficult.
